The Archer is Coming is a solo journaling pen-and-paper RPG set in an everchanging world known as The Painted World. This is a journaling game based off Wassily Kandinsky's Painting, Picture With Archer. The very erratic nature of the world and game is to reflect the style and nature of the painting. The game follows the player as they try to escape a mysterious entity known as The Archer, this entity is never explained or explored, in fact, it is a rule for the player to never describe the Archer. The game uses dice to determine the location and situation the player finds themselves in, allowing them to create an evolving narrative.
I wanted to create a journaling experience that was short and simple. I was experimental with the world and prompts, however, I would love to work on this more as this was a fantastic project that really encapsulates the strange ideas I sometimes have.
